Lovely shot, as always! :D I just wish that you had gotten all of the guy's head and hair...just zoomed out a little.

:butterfly: Dance like no one's watching.... :boogie:
Yeah I know. I was annoyed they didn't stand back an extra few cm to avoid the crop too. :P That's the biggest downside to using fixed-length lenses, though on the plus side it does mean you don't miss potentially incredible shots because you were busy mucking around with the zoom.

I love the grain in your dance photos, it makes it look gritty yet gorgeous at the same time.
Great shot.

"These arms were supposed to be lost! Hacked, severed and forgotten."
Goddess that's one hell of a wonderful begining.

The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life.
Poets do not go mad; Mathematicians go mad.
One of the reasons I decided to stick with high-ISO settings over trying flash is that I thought that a grainy look would actually compliment the subjects, to a degree.

Dancing's a very glamourous sport, and I dunno, I kinda get this whole "classic grainy B & W glamour" vibe from the photos, if that makes any sense.

Also, short of hosting a competition outdoors, there' precious few options when it comes to close-up shots of competitors. You don't really have the time to mess with exposure and flash. You can kinda get away with it with colour dancesport photos, but any overexposure really hurts black and white images.

High-ISO settings is a really good idea for those YOUR dance photos.

I' ve hoped for change,
but still I feel the same.

And I' ll confess
That I can be a little selfish!
Yeah, I' ll admit
I don' t want you to help me through this.
I don' t want to start over again...

Paramore - Whoa
what a pose

& the lady on the right. is posed similarly. :)

My favorite part of this is the leaders facial expression, it's the best showing characteristic of the dance.

This is the way to start. The other couples do not seem to be in the forward position. sure, it's only a moment of the whole dance but put the same passion into it :P

thrust them hips proudly forward.

and the photography is nicely done, however i would have preferred that like ?arm? chunk to have been cropped out.

unless of course. they are going to apelle going in. in which case. my bad.
